Food Rescue Pilots Across the State

We’re working with community organizations on the ground across the state.

Every $30 donated to Growing the Table purchases a 12-15 pound box of organic and regenerative produce from small, BIPOC regional farms that will be given to a family in need for free.

Regional Pilots

Growing the Table is proud to be working with the following partners. After all of the planned Growing the Table pilots are executed in 2021, Growing the Table will have worked in and helped create positive impacts in one-half of California’s 58 counties.

Oakland

  • 3,200 produce bags distributed

  • 15 BIPOC farms received incentives

  • 35-acre average farm size

  • Direct capacity-building grants enabled Mandela Partners to support the increased distribution of farm network produce and boxes while paying staff and engaging in outreach

 

Sonoma County

  • 5,100 boxes distributed

  • 20,000 prepared meals distributed

  • 32 small farms received incentives

  • More than $230,000 paid directly to farmers a wholesale price for their produce

  • Distributed to farmworkers, low-income housing residents

 

San Mateo County

  • 23,300 prepared meals went to fire evacuees

  • 9 BIPOC farms received incentives

  • 11 total farms. helped

  • $45,000 paid to farmers

  • Meals distributed to San Mateo and Napa fire evacuees.

 

Fresno

  • Worked through a system of micro-farmer (.5-2 acres) through buyback events

  • 11,425+ produce boxes distributed

  • 47+ different crop types purchased

  • 65+ small farms received incentives

  • $70,000 paid to small farmers in 1st round.

 

Richmond

  • 1,600 food boxes delivered directly to high-need residents

  • Food box deliveries are made directly to Richmond-area families and individuals

  • Each delivery distributes 75-112 fresh food boxes

 

Sacramento

  • $35,000 allocated to facilitate a micro-farmer crop buyback in the area

  • Purchased produce at a fair wholesale price from 31 Asian and Pacific Islander micro-farmers

  • Paid up to $1,000 per small micro-farmer

  • Fresh produce boxes were distributed to local agencies and organizations that feed families in need
